Dive into a rapid-fire Q&A with Trey’s parents as they reveal his go-to movies, music, and favorite comedy picks.
Trey Owens is a 6'5", 219-pound quarterback for the Arkansas State Red Wolves and one of the program’s most promising young players. Known for his size, arm strength, and poise, he brings significant long-term upside as he continues to develop at the collegiate level.
A Houston native, Owens excelled at Cy-Fair High School, where he established himself as one of the area’s top quarterbacks. He completed nearly 70% of his career passes for more than 6,400 yards and 81 touchdowns, throwing just 11 interceptions. During his senior season, he recorded 3,303 passing yards, 43 touchdowns, and a 72% completion rate, earning District 17-6A Offensive MVP honors and a selection to the 2024 All-American Bowl.
Owens originally committed to the University of Texas as part of the 2024 recruiting class. He redshirted as a freshman, gaining valuable experience in Steve Sarkisian’s offensive system while appearing in two games. In 2026, he transferred to Arkansas State, bringing his experience, leadership, and skill set to the Red Wolves’ program. With a strong foundation and a high ceiling, Owens continues to develop as a quarterback while representing Arkansas State both on and off the field.
Athletic excellence also runs in the family. Trey is the son of Joe and Kristy Owens, both former collegiate athletes who instilled competitiveness, discipline, and perspective in him from a young age. He also has a younger sister, Emery, who remains one of his strongest supporters.
When he’s not training or studying the game, Trey enjoys playing golf, going to comedy shows, listening to country music, and hanging out with friends. Known for his grounded personality, faith, and commitment to growth, he represents the Red Wolves with pride both on and off the field as he works toward becoming the next great quarterback at Arkansas State.
